This issue of The Military Appreciation Resource Book outlines the background and history of the Armed Services YMCA, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide services and programs to aid members of the U.S. Armed Services.

ASYMCA’s goal is to lend support to military members and their families who encounter extra hardships and burdens associated with military life. ASYMCA provides opportunities to improve and enrich the military family bond, show appreciation for the sacrifices of our nation’s heroes and their families, and thank them for their service.

Since their beginning in 1851 during the Civil War, the Armed Services YMCA has been successfully performing their mission.
